Third in the series, but was not in third place. This book was better than expected.
Because of the controversial ending, I expected a book that would take me months to finish with a very disappointing ending. In reality, I finished it in two days and wished that it had never ended. The ending was disappointing, but at the same time not disappointing at all. What I mean is that I was upset that it ended that way, but it was the best way to end it and Veronica Roth realized that.
I guessed the ending before it happened, but was still completely shocked when I guess correctly. I bawled. I admit it. I bawled more in this book than any other book I have ever read.
Was it because the series was over?
Was it because of the love?
Was it because of the pain?
I believe it was a combination of all of these but most of all I believe it was because Veronica Roth is a genius in her writing.
It was refreshing to see a change in Veronica Roth’s writing in Allegiant. She began switching the narration between two characters, Tris and Four. In Divergent and Insurgent, Tris spoke about what Four might be thinking, but in Allegiant the reader finally sees the true Four.
His thoughts. His pain. His love. His sins. All fully exposed…
Veronica Roth was creative and brilliant in making Four a second narrator because readers, including me, fell for him even more. I understood him better, I loved hearing his thoughts, and I loved to see his love for Tris grow inside of him.
Even if you are disappointed by the ending, you have to admit that this was one of the best series. Veronica Roth hit right on the target for all 3 of these books.

Wow, Rachel Carnes. I’m impressed by your insight on this book. I haven’t read any in the series, but you’ve intrigued me. Thank you for your thoughtful expressions. You yourself are growing as a writer and a reader.
