Like The Hunger Games, Divergent has the romance and action to keep the readers on edge.
When I was at Walmart about to leave for Florida is when I first encountered this book. I had no clue what I wanted to read on the six hour car ride so I grabbed Divergent. Because of this random choice, I was not expecting much from the pages inside. This book exceeded my expectations.
I read this book in two days because I could not put it down. It caught my attention from the first couple pages and I was hooked.
On every page a new and exciting discovery was made by the protagonist, Beatrice Prior. She is a strong independent character, but small in size. I love her character because she can give hope for the readers when she gains strength from her journeys.
The romance adds to the story in a way that helps the readers confusion throughout the story. There are so many twists and talk from a dystopian world that it can get confusing at times. The romance is not an overwhelming amount in the book, but without it the book would not be four out of five stars.
I read this book a second time to refresh my memory for the movie that comes out soon. The second time, I was expecting that it was not as above my expectations as the first time, but it was still a fantastic read.
I can not wait to read the next two books and see the movie in March, 2014.
Can’t wait to see what you think of the series finale, Allegiant. (lots of mixed reviews on that one!)
