Deadbeat

Three-Word Summary: Loser meets ghosts

Rating: 4/5

I’m a sucker for stupid humor. And the show Deadbeat lives on stupid humor.

Each episode title, not to mention the name of the show, is some sort of pun. And there are plenty of crude jokes, mostly fart-related.

Maybe it’s the fact that he is so grossly incompetent. Maybe it’s because he is so carelessly naive. Maybe it’s because he can’t pronounce his own last name correctly.

But there is something about the dopey protagonist Kevin Pacalioglu (played by Tyler Labine) that makes him so hilariously lovable.

The show revolves around Kevin and his psychic ability to see ghosts. Each ghost has an unresolved issue that Kevin must selflessly help them solve. In between smoking weed and avoiding his nasty rival, fake medium Chamomile White.

Basically, it’s like Ghostbusters meets Pineable Express.

I’m not always sure why I’m laughing. But for some reason, I always seem to (laugh) at something each episode.

It’s not an award-winner by any stretch of the imagination. But’s entertaining and that’s what television is supposed to be about.
